First Annual Dallas Gala brings new supporters to EOD

This past fall, Education Opens Doors finalized a partnership with the Boxer Bowtie Club, a New York based nonprofit, to partner for a black tie gala this spring. We jumped full time into planning this spring, and on May 6, the community came together for a successful evening sharing the story of Education Opens Doors with many new supporters at Trunk Club Dallas. The event kicked off at 6 PM with a VIP happy hour where Boxer Bowtie Club members and Education Opens Doors staff greeted key supporters. A steady flow of supporters streamed in, picking up a white, blue or grey wristband and taking full advantage of the photographers on site to get a snap with the Boxer Bowtie Club mascot, Helios, who was decked out in a boxer-themed bow tie for the evening! Guests had the chance to hear from a variety of speakers during a brief presentation at the gala. Kale Butcher from Boxer Bowtie Club shared about the history of Boxer Bowtie Club, a New York nonprofit that...

Roadmap to Success in action at L.V. Stockard Middle School

Education Opens Doors recently hosted a site visit at L.V. Stockard Middle School, where the Roadmap to Success began! Site visits are a way for donors, potential partners and community members to visit a school that implements the Roadmap to Success and see the program in action. Guests also have the opportunity to speak to students, teachers and administrators of the program to hear about their experiences and get a first-hand account of the assets and some of the challenges they face on their campus. Mr. Varrassi, the principal at Stockard, kicked off the day by discussing his role on campus (he is in his second year as principal), how the Roadmap to Success is implemented and some other middle school highlights. He also talked about the feeder high school that Stockard feeds into and the Business Technology program offered there. EYFT  is a day-long summit of speakers, panels and workshops designed both to energize current educators and interest potential future teachers.  Jayda was asked to be the closing keynote speaker, and share her knowledge to current and future teachers as a powerful closing call to action. 2017 marked the third annual Extra Yard For Teachers summit held in Dallas as part of a partnership with the College Football Playoff National Championship. EYFT originated out of a desire to give back to the communities and teachers that support student athletes. 2017 was a particularly notable year as it marked the launch of a community-wide initiative,, that aims to elevate the teaching profession and attract high quality educators to the DFW region.
